Went to Cattle Baron South (Sun Valley Blvd) for a celebration dinner with our friends. The four of us liked the ambience and the steaks were very good. The biggest disappointment was our waiter, Richard, who made us feel very uneasy and uncomfortable the entire evening. No greetings, introduction or any effort to make us feel welcome. His demeanor was unpleasant, unprofessional and at the very end of the evening, just outright rude. Constantly checking to see if we were done for each course - from appetiizer to dessert - which was very annoying!! The rudest thing had to be when it came time to pay the bill, he stood right there at the table looking over to see what my husband was keying in for tips and while entering his PIN on the credit card machine. Both our friends made a comment about it too and we all felt it was extremely rude and a violation of our privacy of information (entering PIN). When we got up to leave, no thank you or bye have a good night from this Richard guy, even though he was standing right there (p.s. restaurant not busy). It was one of those occasions when we wonder why we even gave any tips at all. Sadly, such has come to be a trademark of Calgary restaurants - pricey food, and unprofessional no-class servers. All in all, we thought the food was good, but definitely would NOT return unless this waiter no longer works there or management start training their staff to show some proper manner and customer service.
