European Delicatessen and Bakery has been filling Calgarians' need for fresh-baked goods since the 1950s. A long-standing institution of traditional German meats and baked goods, little of this iconic shop was changed when Dale Greene came into ownership in 2011.
“I was looking for a place to start my sausage processing business,” Dale says. “I wanted a chance to get my own line of sausages to the public, so when I saw this place come up for purchase, I went for it.”
By incorporating his sausage making business (Wild West Meats) in the offerings at the European Delicatessen and Bakery, Dale has brought a delicious addition to the Calgary gastronomic scene. “This is what I originally wanted to do: make my sausages. But with the deli, I also found an opportunity to create more fine meats from scratch,” he explains.
