A couch sits at the entrance of Bamboo Stockroom on Whyte Avenue with several quirky animal pillows piled on one end. A pink silk-screened Chihuahua sits next to a yellow kitten, lending a fun and funky feel that carries throughout the rest of the store’s space.
Unique home décor items, locally-designed clothing and baby accessories decorate the space. On one wall, a pink bicycle hangs upside down from its wheels, providing the perfect hanger for some unique shirts. Meanwhile, a vintage-looking cabinet occupies another wall, full of baby moccasins, tiny towels wrapped like lollipops, and mini socks.
Bamboo Stockroom is an off-shoot of co-owner Kyla Kazeil’s first clothing store, Bamboo Ballroom, located just a little further down Whyte Avenue. “We originally were going to move [Bamboo Ballroom] into this new space because we thought the rent might go up," says Kyla. "Then, our landlord kept our rent the same, so we decided to stay and had a second space.”
