Dr. Nizar Saab (or, as his patients call him, Dr. Niz), owner of City Centre Health Edmonton Chiropractic, had his first experience with chiropractic at age 16. A hockey injury was preventing him from putting any pressure on his leg. After trying physiotherapy and seeing one of the best sports doctor in Winnipeg, he still had no relief. A teammate’s mom suggested he see a chiropractor.
At the first appointment, the chiropractor suggested that his lower back was causing the problem and did an adjustment and a table drop. “At my next appointment, I told him I hurt more after the adjustment and he said, ‘Great!’” says Dr. Niz. “He showed me the x-ray, adjusted me again and within four visits I was 85 per cent better. I was taken by chiropractic at that time, but I still wasn’t convinced it was the right career path for me.”
After graduating high school, he planned to go into law. In his second year at the University of Manitoba, he began having second thoughts. “I decided law wasn’t for me,” he says. “I wanted to help people in a different way.” So he finished his degree and enrolled at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic School.
Since then, Dr. Niz has practiced chiropractic and owned clinics in Australia, Victoria, B.C., and Edmonton.
