Mood enhancers are not confined to over-the-counter supplements. In fact, if you sign up for a dance class at Coquitlam's Arthur Murray Dance Studio you'll discover the new-found bounce in your step is the side effect of having fun. Dancing can also double as anti-aging therapy. Like for Arthur Murray's 102-year-old student who began pursuing dance when she was 90. "If only I started when I was 70," she says. Evidently, it can elevate your sense of humour, too.
Dancing duo and husband-and-wife team Brent Smith and Barbara Ferchuk met in a ballroom dance club at the University of Saskatchewan. What began as an extracurricular activity blossomed into a passion; they attended Saskatoon's Arthur Murray DanceStudio as students, then as teachers, and moved to BC in 1990 and purchased their own franchise in 2004.
"We celebrated the studio's 10-year anniversary in 2014, and the basic mission remains," says Barbara. "Teaching people to dance, have fun and reach their goals; that's the true reward."
