What's in a name? Is it mere coincidence or your career destiny? The suggestive effect of gravitating to your profession by virtue of your surname, like say, NASCAR and Formula 1 racer Scott Speed or Olympian champion Usain Bolt (the greatest sprinter of all time), are among the countless aptonyms. This phenomenon has also graced Matt Beere, co-owner of Beere Brewing Co. in North Vancouver.
A homebrewer for nearly 10 years before turning professional craft brewer, Matt says naming the business was something of a no-brainer.
"Our home brew just kept getting better and better and when we made the decision to open a craft brewery, we couldn't dare call it anything else; a lot of people don't know and think we just threw an 'e' on the end of beer to be creative."
Co-owned with his father Craig, they opened the eponymous brewery in November 2017 in the warehouse below Beere Timber Company, which Craig founded and still operates.
