"I come from the business world – I was a regional manager for the Hudson Bay Company for 30 years. Back then, I never cooked, as I was way too busy to. In that regard, it's quite a funny turn of events, me ending up cooking every day of my life now," says Cathy Bach, née Barone, with a touch of irony. At the helm of Marini Italian Foods since 2010, Cathy today finds herself catching up on all the cooking she didn't have time to do back in the day. "My husband thinks this is hilarious," she admits.
Cathy purchased Marini Italian Foods after having quit the Hudson Bay Company and completing a five-year stint as an independent business consultant.
"I'm of Italian descent and come from a family of great cooks, people for whom sharing a meal with their loved ones is very important. I wanted to go back to these roots. One day I saw this business in my neighbourhood that was up for grabs. It was a family-held operation that had been running for a long time in the food industry, and I thought it was perfect for me," Cathy recalls. Since then, she has been churning out delicious Italian take-out meals for her clientele.
