Whether you are a serious fisherman or a serious sunbather, Ocean Adventure Center is ready to help you have an enjoyable trip on the emerald ocean. The mainstay of the company is fishing for salmon and other ocean creatures (think crabs or prawns), though they'll happily accommodate whatever the guests want to do in the waters near Vancouver.
“There are so many different things to do on the water — we’re happy to take guests to look for whales, seals, eagles or otters. We also do harbour cruises, eco-tours, fireworks cruises, kayaking, or if folks just want to have a party, we can do that,” explains Preston Steele, Ocean Adventure Center’s captain and owner.
Tours with Ocean Adventure Center can run from a few hours to multiple days. For overnight trips, the group usually heads to Gabriola Island, Preston says. “We'll organize a cabin or two at Pages Resort. Then after the day's fishing adventure, guests can have dinner at their leisure or we'll go to the restaurant. If they've caught fish, they can cook it in the cabin themselves.”
Ocean Adventure Center operates four boats from its Coal Harbour dock at The Westin Bayshore Hotel. The size of the group will determine which boat they take out. The Seastar, the largest boat, is 43 feet from stem to stern, is powered by twin 315hp Cummins diesel engines, and can accommodate up to 12 passengers. The Grady-Whites are powered by twin 4 stroke Yamaha outboards and can accommodate up to seven passengers.
