Go there for breakfast...they do a good one. Eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, hash brown taters, tomoatoes mmm mm. And the service was great never let my coffee go dry or cool off.
My wife and I went for breakfast Saturday morning. Our waitress (Gail) was fast, friendly, with a sick sense of humour (in a good way) and had our orders on the table within 15 mins max. The food was excellent, sausages were not greasy. Eggs Benedict had plenty of hollandaise sauce. Everything was perfect. And we love city on the patio.
We heard their ad on 820 Cham so we thought we would go there with the kids for breakfast. When we got there the place wasn't that busy so we got a table right away. Our server was very pleasant and asked us what we would like to drink She asked if my daughter would like a book and some crayons. The childrens mlenu had a good choice. My wife had a greek omelette and I had their sausage .I can say the sausage was great and wasn't those little pigs you get at most spots. Our coffee and tea was filled when needed. The waitress checked on us even though it had really got busy.. You could tell that the staff knew a lot of the customers. My wife said the omelette was good with lots of feta cheese. We will go back again and maybe see the owner to ask about all the pictures on the wall. J.P. and the family.. .
We have been going out for breakfast for many years and we feel they have the best omelettes and peameal bacon . We go to several restaurants in the area so we feel we are almost experts. The girls were great and they recognized us the second time we came in. Our tea and coffee cups were never empty. We will continue to go back.
I wasn't all that impressed with their breakfast, especiall for the price. I am not all that crazy about having a breakfast with three eggs, but the server said that the eggs were small. Why don't they just serve two large eggs? Oh well! I have had better breakfasts at a cheaper price. What else can I say! I wouldn't go there for breakfast again, unless someone else dragged me.
A good place in the East End to grab lunch or a beer after work. Nothing too fancy but some good solid food selections. They also have one of the few patios in the area.
Not many people may know it but Rankin's is the most famous restaurant in Hamilton. How come? Because Mr Rankin rode a bull through the place when it was a china shop and made world wide news, including Ripleys Believe it or Not. That was many years ago. The senior Mr Rankin (now deceased) was an innovator. When Ontario's liquor laws changed to allow American style bar and grills in Ontario Rankins became the first "Roadhouse" type restaurant in Hamilton (and perhaps Ontario). For years every bar in Hamilton had that throw- everything- up- on- the- wall look that Rankin innovated. Many sadly still do. Rankins has moved past that and is now a beloved local restaurant. OK, how 'bought the food? Sorry folks, I don't care what others have wrote here. The food is very uneven. Good one time, so-so the next. I ate here for years, so I'm entitled to my opinion big guys. This place is friendly, clean, and has many loyal followers. But let's face it, it's in the east end of Hamilton. Where else are you going to go?
Food was excellent, home fries were outstanding, not mushed, not burnt, but big pieces of potato. Peameal bacon and eggs were good as well. Service was excellent and friendly. Very prompt. They were at our table with coffee almost immediately.
It was busy (pre Ticat game). Sat down quickly and ordered right away. The Burger was fantastic. Fully loaded with cheese, peameal bacon, and all the trimmings. Fries were really good too.
The food and service is always excellent and fast. A formidable selection of draft beers. Wing specials before and after Ticat games, and kids eat free on Wednesdays...what more could you want. We have been going there for over 15 years.
Great service, servers where very personable and the food is always delicious.
Really good food the fries where homemade which were Excellant!!!!
Steak done to perfection(moos when fork inserted) eggs poached nicely and hot toast, a rarity for most breakfasts. Coffee not too bad either. Sun room a real plus for the early morning diners. Fresh air and a great breakfast.
This place has been around for a long time, good overall for just about everything, Ive been going there for over 30 years, no disappointments.
Hamilton's place where everyone knows your name. The service matches the food everytime. $3.99 Burgers on Tuesday, Kids eat free on Wednesday. Great for the family.
Steak cooked blue rare to perfection and the service was great. The best steak and egg breakfast I have ever had and I have had quite a few.
