Went for lunch, decided to split fish n chips with my husband as normally you get way too much , and it was $17.99 so assumed there would be lot. One small tasteless piece of fish and a few fries ...and some horrible green mushy watery peas . My son had French onion soup and literally it was the smallest bowl I’ve seen ...barely no broth. Even the Cesars were lacking . Cmon...put alittle effort into your food!
My brother and I were on our way to an auction at the nearby fair grounds when we decided to stop into this restaurant for a bite to eat. We were served promptly by a nice young lady and our drinks were also brought quite quickly. I ordered a burger and my brother had the bangers and mash. Our food was acceptable. However about midway through our meal and large English man who I later learned was the owner came in through the front door. At first I didn't really notice him, but when he started berating one of the servers quite loudly for the entire restaurant to hear I began to take notice. He then went into what I presumed was the kitchen where I could quite clearly hear him insulting and ridiculing another member of his staff. I found his conduct towards his staff incredibly rude and demeaning and as a result I will not be visiting this restaurant again.
A pleasant stop if you are in Ilderton, and especially if you are a fan of a pub atmosphere and cask conditioned ale. I've been here several times, and I usually stick with the nachos because they are a great value and are also quite tasty. But I have had the Steak and Guinness Pie which is also quite the treat. Service has always been great when I have been. I always get a few pints of cask ale when I go, and am never disappointed. It is always fresh and well kept. Rich is a true cellarmaster and knows his beer. As a result, this is a destination for lovers of true cask ale, and the only place in the south west of Ontario to try this unique style of ale. The atmosphere is comfy, nice booths, a bar to sit at, a seperate room with televisions for those inclined to watch a game, and there is also a large screen in the main room for the larger events. Overall, highly a recommended stop if you are in Ilderton or area. No where else near here can you get cask ale, great service, and really tasty food. I'll be back!
I have been a regular at the King Edward for a couple of years now. The owners and staff do a great job of providing me with the authentic pub atmosphere I love. They also offer a fantastic menu, with the best assortment of wings around. There have been few visits where I have not been greeted and visited at my table by one or both owners. I have taken in the live music nights as well, which I feel are one of Ilderton's best kept secrets. If the wait is too long.....that should tell you something....this is not a fast food joint.....I come here for good food, a great and ever changing beer selection and good, friendly service.
I have been reading up on some of the reviews that have been left on this site and I strongly disagree with them. I have been frequenting the "Eddy" for quite some time now with a good friend. Every time we are there the owners and staff are great and greet us with a welcoming demeanor. The food is spot-on and very tasty and the selection on the menu is fantastic, especially the wings menu. They are constantly adding new items to the menu and running special promotions and events for numerous holidays and special occassions. I can't say that I have ever had a bad meal or a less than satisfying experience at the King Edward. I recommend it to friends and family all the time. It can be a very busy place with quite a volume of local traffic, which can make it difficult to satisfy every customer that sets foot into the traditional pub settting all the time. My advice would be to call and reserve a table in advance; by doing this you should be able to eliminate any long wait times and it can give you the opportunity to ask about prime times to enjoy the services offered by the Eddy. Did I mention that their selection of beer is unmistakably unique and very tasty from the inexperienced to the very refined pallet. I will continue to visit the Eddy and hopefully this will help some people give it a try...or at least another chance! Yours truly, FreePint!!!
We also will never visit this restaurant again. Funny the above reviewer mentioned the owner, the exact same thing happened when we visited. The way he spoke to his employees was unprofessional and overly demeaning. We ordered Raj Bites (very dry and no taste) for an app. and other dinners that were no better. I highly recommend you do not bother going to this restaurant.
My boyfriend and I heard about this place from a mutual friend, we were told the food was unique and the service was fast. When was arrived the place was SO full. There were pretty much tables on top of other tables; WAY CROWDED! Our orders were taken very slow and our food was out about 45 minutes later. The food was over cooked and not good AT ALL. And to top it off, a gentlemen - whom later identified himself to us as the owner - was quite clearly heard insulting one of the waitresses and call her names. One of the most unproffessional acts I've ever witnessed! I will never be returning!
