I went to Niagara Falls with my two sisters for an outlet shopping trip when we stumbled across Taco N Tequila restaurant after the local Red Lobster failed to impress us. I am not sure exactly what drew us into this strange bright yellow building, maybe that we wanted to try something different, and that tequila was in the title. Walking into the door we were welcomed by the Mexican owner and bartender, who also ended up serving us. The weather was not so warm, but there was a lot of sun coming through the front entrance so we sat there. The restaurant, with all of its sun and Mexican decorations, did actually feel almost like a nice resort vacation away from chilly Canadian weather. We all shared one of their special , which was quite the sight in its large fancy glass, and it tasted good too. A $25.00 lunch for 2 special was on which included one appetizer and two entrees. We shared the Guacamole and chips appetizer, and I had the Mexican tacos entree. Even with the third meal and a few Dos Equis our bill was not expensive by today’s standards. After eating a tasty heavy lunch (including a lot of beans), and having a few drinks, we were feeling happy, and even had a good chat with our server. Overall, Taco N Tequila was a recommendable place. It was clean, had friendly staff, tasty food, and a good atmosphere.
Walked in, server looked at us and walked away. Bartender gave us a seat. Server didn't give us a menu for over 5minutes. Brought us the wrong drinks (we ordered martinis she brought us margaritas). Didn't check in on us. Brout appetizers and main meal all at the same time. Didn't bring cutlery until our food was cold...napkins didn't arrive until we asked the bartender... The food was just ok. Fajitas were probably the best meal on the menu. The taco salad was super salty i had to drench it with hotsauce (yuck). I would have told the Waitress if she Bothered to check in on us...overall, I'd consider eating here again if they changed the service staff.
I was in NF for a romantic weekend with my wife. We spotted this place and new we had to eat there. Its nothing flashy on the outside but looks very festive and colourful on the inside that makes you feel like you are on vacation in the Caribbean. The servers and bartender are mostly all Spanish so it lends an air of authenticity and gives it a more ambient feel. The food is very good and more traditional than most Mexican places. We ordered nachos with chicken that was seasoned in spices and covered with a homemade pico de gallo sauce. We had jalapeno's stuffed with cheese with a spicy dipping sauce. The main courses were fajita's with chicken and enchilada's. Both were excellent and healthy portions. The prices were very reasonable as compared to all the overpriced corporate/chain places you'll find in NA. We had 2 pitchers of beer on top and some small sides and the bill came to about $90
I had driven past this place several times now throughout the years and was always curious to try it out. I finally ended up going with some friends a couple of weeks ago and I'm so glad I did! This place has such an amazing atmosphere. As soon as you walk in, you find yourself feeling like you're actually on vacation in Mexico. The authentic wall decor is just beautiful and the bar tender that made our drinks was so polite and patient with us, especially when we asked so many questions regarding the types of tequila they offered to put in our margaritas. We were also surprised to hear that this very young looking bartender is in fact the new owner. The server was a young female who was nothing but kind and welcoming the moment we walked in the door. She was also very helpful in suggesting possible meals for us, especially since we were with two vegetarians and one who was heavily allergic to spicy foods. The food came in a timely manner as well. Everything tasted absolutely delicious and you could tell the cook actually cared for the presentation of his meals as everything looked incredible. Needless to say, we were completely satisfied with our visit to this restaurant, and being locals of the Niagara Falls area, we will definitely be returning. If you are having a birthday/bachelor party, I would suggest having it here. The ambiance alone will pull you in. I can't wait to go back!
It almost felt like another journey to Mexico. I felt so welcome and the staff is very friendly . Me and my BF happen to past by their and BF said lets go have a drink and I said sure! For the first time in my life I've tried the Margaritas and let me tell you..It was the best drink I have ever had better than sex on beach. After three Margaritas I said lets go before the four one put me on the floor. Neither to say we have walked up to Clifftonhill and on the way back we make sure we stop for some more drinks "Margaritas". Before leaving I said to my bf lets order some mexican nachos to take back to the hotel. Best place to hang out on a beautiful summer day!!! I will be bring my sister and her friend to this place which I know she will love.
coming from europe, we are very excited from this restaurant. We love the service, the people are very very friendly. They have great food and drinks. my husband loved the hemp beer. haha. we will certainly go back there this summer!
I thought this place was great. It is a simple and relaxing setup. The food was really good. The drinks were awesome. Nice place to go and relax before going out. Compared to all the other places around, this place was cheap. $3.00 for a draft beer. $ 4.95 for a Margarita. You can't beat that, expescially by Clifton Hills. I would highly recommend going there and getting the Nachos Grande and acouple margarita's, sit at the bar, relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
Not a large place and not a fancy place. Just a few tables and a bar. However, I really enjoyed the Mexican food. Portions were great. A little on the spicy side, but we cooled that off with dessert. The desserts were awesome. One tasted like long cinnamon donuts. The deep fried ice cream was not hot as I am accustomed to, but still good. The strawberry margeurita was not great. You get good value for the money.
Service was poor over an hour to wait for our food and the place was only 1/4 full. Salsa and chips you had to pay for and the salsa was dumped on top of the chips, so after a few minutes the chips were sogy! YUK!!! The Marguritas were very poor for $7 for a small. Since I was ther for about 2 hours with 2 small children we had to use the bathrooms way too often and they were GROSS!!!! Finaly the food came it the quality was very poor. So with 4 adult meals and only 2 drink (the rest were water) no deserts the bill came to $80. Not a good value in my book. If you come walking to this place I suggest you hide your money and run for the border!!!!!!!!!!
This was our find of 2006. We were looking for a place to eat in the falls, and just happened upon Taco N Tequila. We've since been back at least 5-6 times and I've loved it every time!!! For me, the sangria just sets the mood so I get it every time. Everything I've tried on the menu is excellent. I'm on my way back tonight cause we can't get enough of the place, and it's only a 45 min drive from Hamilton.
Superb restaurant, the food and the service was amazing. Authentic mexican cuisine, we will definitely be going back!
My girlfriend and I had a one night stay in Niagara Falls and during one of our afternoon walks around town we just happened to walk by this place, I was in the mood for a few drinks and it seemed like a nice place. We weren't hungry at all so we didn't order any food, although the restaurant had a delightful mexican aroma to it..the food smelled delicious. I had my drinks, the gf ordered something which she didnt like, the bartender (who is actually the owner of the restaurant) gladly replaced her drink without charge and said we could still keep it. As the girlfriend went to the bathroom, the owner and I struck up a little conversation about random things, about his background, how he started the business, amongst other things. He came off to me as being a wonderful host earning an honest living and a very nice person to talk to..perhaps one of the nicest owners I've met. Me and the lady had such a great time just having a few drinks and chit chatting with the owner that we decided to come back the next day and do the exact same! I will definitely give the food a try next time around, hopefully it tastes as good as it smells. We will be visiting Taco N Tequila whenever we visit Niagara Falls, it's an extremely welcoming place, very relaxed atmosphere with a great owner. I'm giving the food an 8 ONLY because i havent tried it yet. Highly recommended.
I went to this restaurant after reading great reviews about it. Frankly speaking, I was disappointed. The quality of food is okay, not extraordinary. Secondly, the prices are on the higher side. I ordered a fajita and it came with only lettuce and a small quanity of salsa. Sour cream/guacomole were about $4 each. And mind you the fajita cost nearly $20. I guess considering the paucity of Mexican places in the area, the food is okay.
