The One Hour Sandwich
The reason there are no stars for food is that we didn't actually receive any. After order our lunch of a Mexican Fiesta Scroll and a St. Tropez chicken sandwich, small lemonade and small iced coffee (total $32.10!) we waited for 45 minutes for our food to arrive. When I asked the slightly condescending owner he replied that we couldn't have waited 45 minutes...when I replied that we did, he rolled his eyes and checked on our order only to find that they had lost it! He refunded our money for the sandwich portion (we had received our overpriced @ $4.50 each) beverages and said they would make the sandwiches right away and apologized. At this point he might have received one star for service. Ten minutes later and having watched two other orders of food go by, I inquired again at which time he said there were other orders ahead of ours and it takes time to make (again, two pretty simple sandwiches) and that he had already apologized and the sandwiches would be up when they were ready. (no stars for service now). As it had been over an hour at this point and I was probably about to get a parking ticket we left. This is a popular spot in Oakville, well known for pretty good if overpriced food, fairly long waits for food and slightly condescending service....so we were prepared for most of what happened. What did happen was over the top the worst service I've ever had and despite the popularity of hanging out at The Green Bean we'll never be back.
