Big, juicy & FLAVOURFUL!! Honey garlic is incredible, the best I have ever EVER had.
Medium is quite hot so be prepared if you can't stand the heat, maybe go with mild.
Usually we get a salad or drinks to start while we wait (as the service isn't the best). Although now they are giving you salsa & chips when you sit down which is great! Sometimes it's hard to find a table on Wed's at dinner time though as seating is limited.
was pleasantly shocked at quality of food. it was amazing. Expecting usual pub quality, exceeded all expectations. Fish and chips are the best in town. Salads great. A Pub with fantastic food.
They have the best chicken wings I have ever tasted! Their Wednesday wing nights are a tradition in Port Elgin. The management changed in early 2008 and the new owner has put a lot of effort into sprucing things up while maintaining the character of the place.. In summer the patio is a jumping place, in winter the smaller dining room provides an intimate spot for a drink or a meal.
I enjoyed one of my best nights out in Port Elgin at the Wismer House. The other night was hopping there, great atmosphere and wicked band on the patio. The new menu is fantastic- definitely try out the apple stuffed pork chops and the brie stuffed chicken! Cant wait to go back :)
I never used to come to this place when I'd visit in the summer and holiday weekends because the one and only time I had (previous to the new owner & management), the place looked dumpy, we didn't know where to sit and yet the bartender still just stared away, I finally sat at a table while my friend went to the washroom. She came back quickly and said she refused to use the washrooms, no server came after another 5 minutes, so annoyed we left and vowed never to go back.
Well was in Port Elgin for Victoria Day long weekend and couldn't ignore the "buzz" happening at the Wismer. I asked a girl at a local retail store and she said it was all changed.
And she was right. The decor is updated and nice. New women's washroom beautiful and clean. Jeff, the manager, came to our table and chatted with us with on his own volition. The staff were friendly and fast getting our food out, which was great, great, great!
The only drawback for me was that the tv sound level in the bar was competing with the music playing in the dining room. Apparently though, that is not always the case, it was a special sportscast that wasn't shown on regular cable and so many sports fans came in to watch the event. The server also told us that we can bring our laptops (she knew we were justing visiting) to get WI-Fi. Apparently a really good band was playing that night but we unforntuanately didn't make it back that night. Next time!

Best wings in town! Honey Garlic is awsome as I'm usually a "hot" fan. This "Nacho boat" was real good (something different). New owners have made a real impact. The place has been cleaned up too!!

The service was...ok, considering we showed up at the end of the last long weekend of the summer. The chicken fingers were good, nothing special and the fries were pretty good. The fish however was ridiculous. Comparable to low-grade store bought fish sticks. However, they were big, but definitely NOT enjoyable. I am surprised a restaurant would offer such low quality food. Franky, I would be embarrassed! Strong recommendation, order Anything Else!
