Not worth the money
First I was there very recently, Wednesday 24 September and it was early 5p.m. So I guess that meant my guest and I were only eligible for the "less-popular" tables beside the bar. The whole restaurant was empty and we were sat at a table that was not the best by the hostess. Second, the pot lights above our table apparently are a tricky thing to master by the wait-staff. they were fiddling with them frequently dimming them brighter then lower, when finally I asked if they could leave them off please because it was annoying us, and way too bright if left on. You think someone would pay attention to the only table it was affecting but no.... Thirdly seasoning salt as a rim on a Caesar is not appealing at all, use Caesar rim. It is a Caesar remember. Fourth, for 9.99 I expected a lot more calamari in my order, then the small portion I received. Fifth, my vegetables were laughable at best with my entree. I literally received a quarter of a zucchini cut in half and a third of a red pepper cut into strips. My stuffed sole had way too much thyme leaves on the top but at least it wasn't dried out like the other times I've had it there. My guest didn't comment on the warm chicken salad so I can't write about it.. My server was bold and completely impatient. The restaurant is empty, where do you have to get to? A more pressing appointment perhaps?!? Seriously, if she told me to "think about it I'll come back" one more time I was going to scream. And then at the end of our meal she hands me my take home container so I can pack up my food myself and take it to go! That is the most tackiest thing a server can do, at ANY restaurant!!! I've been serving my whole life in many different restaurants and many different cities so granted my standards may be high, but when one goes to a restaurant who boasts an Ann Hardy recommendation of "Where To Eat In Canada" that restaurant better be spectacular from top to bottom, and beginning of service to the end, and sadly Gran Festa was not. It was not worth the $82.12 that I was charged. That experience was my last chance for that place....never again...
