Very helpful servers. Wonderful food.
My husband had the Poseidon Pasta. BUT On our car ride home from the restaurant my husband became violently ill! Painful cramps, vomiting and diarrhea.I called and while telling the owner, he was in complete denial, got very rude with me and hung up on me! It’s too bad because I didn’t want anything from him. I just wanted to make sure no one else got sick. If the owner doesn’t care he’s that he’s serving food that is making people sick then you have to question his cleanliness practises.
Excellent service and a great menu especially for those with Gluten allergies.
The prix fix menu is the best value in town, appetizer, salad and entre for $20 and the portions are not skimpy! Even better when you add one of their awesome dessert options! Worth the visit!
please note, they do not open at 11! They open at 11:30, which is a little inconvenient when you have to sit around for a half hour. But otherwise the food is good, and services okay. This Caesar salad is great
Went for lunch today at noon, ordered an appetizer, coffee and an iced tea, received our app and drinks, then waited an hour with no food. The couple next to us arrived after we did, had their soup, then their entre. By 1pm our lunch time was over and we walked out after paying our server for the app and drinks. They didn't even offer to comp our "meal". Very disappointed to say the least.
Had a great lunch. I love the atmosphere. The service was good. The food was fresh. Presentation was great as well. I would definitely go again. Looking around at other peoples food...it all seems good.
We had a very late lunch, and were happy to be able to order from the lunch menu as late as 4:00 pm. The atmosphere is to mimic that of an Italian Old World home. We quite enjoyed the food, and our server was attentive and kind. There were all ages in the restaurant at that time. Restrooms are on the main floor, and there is plenty of walking space in the dining room. There is also a nice patio out front enclosed with wrought iron and decorated with umbrella tables and flowers. Patio service is available in summer months. There is plenty of free parking outside, and it is very close to the QEW/Martindale Rd. interchange. I know the prices climb higher on the dinner menu as compared to lunch, so if you wish to try the restaurant, come for a later lunch, you won't be disappointed. I ordered the Pasta Malaga (choice of pasta with chorizo sausage, bell peppers, red onions, kalamata olives, in a spicy tomato sauce; accompanied by a garden salad and garlic bread) I recommend it.
We took our son and his wife there for an anniversary lunch on a Sunday. We ordered 2 appetizers and 3 different meals. The food was wonderful, from the appetizers which were delicious to the bread and salad, and the entrees. The Italian sauce is just like Mama would have made and the Caesar salad was excellent! Plus we ordred 2 different fancy desserts to share as a treat at the end. They were excellent. The service was great, our waitress, was attentive and helpful, with a lovely sense of humor. The atmoshpere is old fashioned traditional romantic. You can have a very quiet personal family meal and feel like it is a very special treat! The prices are great, we left feeling happy, very satisfied and full. I would highly recommend this restaurant. It IS a little gem of a place.
My co-worker and I went for lunch and were totally disappointed. We have been there before but it has certainly gone downhill. Our server was dense, screwed up our salad order by mixing it up with the table next to us. Did not apologize or even fix the problem, we had to sort out the salads amongst ourselves if we were going to make it back to work in time. The salads tasted like they were pre-made and in the fridge as they were freezing cold. The chicken alfredo came with the wrong pasta (penne was ordered - linguine came) and again to avoid being late for work we did not complain. The alfredo sauce was tasteless so most of it was left. The chicken mushroom quiche was OK a bit lacking in flavour. The service was terrible and it will be a long time before we go back there if ever.
The food in this restaurant is so reasonable and good that you want to go there often, especially on Fridays, they have a list of specials. Salads and bread come with the meal.
Everything was delicious, service was great, very friendly. Busy place, seems to be run very well.
I myself cannot understand why the reviews on this page are so high. That was the absolute worst food I have ever tasted. The service was horrible. Our server was anything other than attentive, she started off the evening with an attitude and it continued to a downward spiral all evening. White wine should be served chilled and not at room temperature! Cannelloni dinner was served with Rose sauce and put under the broiler...was that to try and cover up the microwave dinner flavour? The effect was actually more like a layer of glue on glue. Meatlovers dinner would not be appropriate to serve to an animal much less a human. The pasta sauce was terrible. We will never go back and will definately be very vocal about how bad the food and service was. A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!
I was surprised the food was so bad considering most comments on this sit are pretty good. Our server Tracy made our night much more pleasurable. If it wasn't for her understanding and consideration the whole night would of been a disaster.
While the food is alright, there is just too much. We each had veal parm and took home a good 2lbs of pasta between the two of us. Such a waste. Just a word of caution... do not order the "fonduta." We had it the last time we were there, expecting something of an Italian fondue, and instead got a chunk of cheese, melted into an oily, gummy goo in a dish. It was pretty bad.
This meal was a mixed bag. Our server and the host were pleasant, attentive and most accommodating. The roasted garlic and goat cheese appetizer was truly yummy. We all had Caesar salad and agreed that it was nicely prepared – very garlicky, tangy and fresh. (If you do not love garlic, do not dine here.) Choice of pasta with the entrees include whole wheat and rice noodle options as well as the traditional, which shows an awareness of their patron's different tastes and dietary requirements. The eggplant parmesan was a definite hit – good enough to take the leftovers home! The Mardi Gras was also very tasty. The chicken alfredo was unremarkable but inoffensive. However, my Cajun chicken had a most unpleasant fishiness about it. I ate less than a quarter of it merely to ward off starvation. I was quite disappointed. I mentioned this to our server, but if this was brought to the chef's attention, no reply was given to me. (Perhaps the sauce for the Cajun chicken was prepared in the same pan as the daily special that included mussels???) We did not indulge in dessert, but I would certainly consider a return visit for dessert and coffee only. There is no dessert menu as such. Rather, there is an ever changing variety of cakes, pastries and pies. They all looked spectacular and those diners who were indulging looked quite satisfied!
every meal comes with ceasar salad and garlic bread the appetizers are great the prices are good i like the atmosphere of the Lake Street location best but overall, you won't be dissappointed with this restaurant choice.
We went with another couple, our first time, they had been before. We had the best dinner we have had in years and we eat out all the time. We had heard of Cafe Amore but never tried it. We are definitely returning. The food and the service all get top marks from us. This is like a hidden gem in St.Catharines.
we went to celebrate friends birthday. had a nice time. service was great, waitress very cheerful. the food came as ordered and very hot. it was busy but we didn`t feel rushed or crowded. we stayed most of the evening and it looked like everyone around us enjoyed their dinner as well because they were all laughing and having a great time. we`ve been before to both locations and have never had a bad experience. we`ll probably go again for the next birthday in our group.
We eat lunch here at least once a week. It`s always great and we`ve been coming since this location opened about 5 years ago. We have tried just about everything but usually end up ordering the quiche and the spicy chicken salad. The service is always prompt and friendly. The food is ALWAYS good. We even come for dinner once a month or so and that`s always been great too. As far as we are concerned this is one of the best places to come for lunch and we have tried alot of different places nearby and they can`t compare.
