When Lesley Kernan was attending a hairdressing school in Mississauga, she already knew where she wanted to set up shop: in the heart of Yorkville. “To be the best of the best in hair, that’s the prime area to set up shop,” says Lesley. It was a no brainer.
But in order to get there, she first had to pay her dues. To gain cut and colour experience as well as valuable connections, Lesley spent the next decade working as a stylist in a Yorkville salon, then bounced to two more. When she met a fellow stylist with a similar entrepreneurial spirit, she knew she had found her business partner, Angela Trovao. “We just clicked and became friends,” Lesley recalls. Soon, the two women were planning their next move.
