Arrogant chef with very little talent way overpriced for what you get really a joke never again
Terrible experience! Keep in mind we come here whenever we are in Toronto which is typically 1-5x per year. We have never had an issue until this time. to start they did not have the Caribbean lobster tail (which is the only reason why we go there) but I ordered the scallops to try it. They were OK, a bit overcooked but still edible and the bacon (or pancetta) that came with it was delicious. We were informed after we ordered that we would have to leave by 5PM which was fine as we got there at 3
Went here for my 7 year anniversary with the lady as I had heard good things, and Im a fan of steaks. We arrived to valet parking, which was a nice touch. We were then directed inside, to which a young lady checked our reservation time. We were about 30 minutes early, but were told our table was ready. We were taken into an elevator which took us to what seemed like the bar room. We were given our table which was small and not in the best location, but it’ll do. I ordered the 10oz filet mignon and the lady got some gnocchi (shes not much of a meat eater). We decided to share a side of mashed potatoes. Shortly after, we were brought some bread, butter and some olives. Again, a nice touch. However, from there, it all went downhill. The food was brought out… my 10oz steak on a massive plate, alone, no veggies, nothing. Okay, fine, we ordered some mashed potatoes anyway… Im not here for the veggies, so if the steak is good, then Im happy. Well, the steak was terrible. Im talking like 3 out of 10. I ordered medium and it came back practically well done. Worst of all, it had absolutely no flavor at all! I was 2 seconds away from committing a sin and ordering some ketchup to drench it in. I was shocked! How could a restaurant that presents itself with such prestige have such terrible food?! The ladies gnocchi was no better. I had a few bites and it tasted no different than something you would get at your local Kelseys. Granted, it did cost under $30, but it was terrible nonetheless. The mashed potatoes were also terrible. Tasted as if they were made from powder... ugh. Finally, we ended off the night with a crepe dessert – hoping it couldn’t be any worse than the food. We were wrong. This is the sweetest crepe I have ever had. If you have diabetes, expect to possibly drop dead on the spot. Again, Ive had 101 crepes throughout my years, but this was amongst the worst. Marche, just down the street, has crepes for half the price and MUCH better. Damage at the end of the night was $150. Will NOT be going back. What a waste of location and a beautiful building/décor. Service was so/so also. Do something about the food… its sub-par. I’d rather go to my local Keg at this point. On our way out, my girlfriend made a joke about getting a $3 hot dog from one of the vendors across the street. Hell, not a bad idea… not a bad idea at all.
it was awesome the food was great and the waiter was very attentive and the atmosphere was great. They had a DJ and there was people dancing and me and my wife felt very good being there. i would visit again and even though expensive the food was awesome.
A group of us had dinner there the other night, and found it to be a great place. The food was delicious, nice atmosphere, the only thing lacking was the service.
Their overpricing is well documented here. Believe it! At these prices, I can be picky. Their U shaped booths are way too crowded! I'm not a large person but felt like I was penned in. Had to balance the menu on my lap as the table is too small to put it anywhere. No question that the food was good, service was fine and they do make a good martini ($21). But again, for a total bill well over $100 just for me, I would expect it. No steaks under 10oz, so pack your doggy bag. I doubt you want to ask for one.
As a performance reward for my team, I offered to take them to lunch anywhere they wanted to go. So they chose Harbour 60 since it had the reputation of being one of the best places in Toronto. The steak wasgood (nothing better than any other steakhouse) and the sides were adequate. The wine is marked up to 300% or 400%. It was OK but definately not worth the money. This is definately a corporate hang out where the meals are expensed. No one would go here and pay for it out of their own pocket.....would they?
Huge portions, great food and service - at a price ;)
The place looks as nice as the ad that they have. They have really nice decor and a great atmosphere. Food is really good, but it certainly comes with a heafty price tag. Great for special occations or business outtings.
Went last week for anniversary dinner. Was staying Westin Harbour Castle who made the dinner reservation. Entered the restaurant and hostess starts speaking to me while working on her computer screen without once looking up, her assistant shows up and without skipping a beat tells her table 24. My wife and I are brought to table 24 along a row of windows in the kitchen??? Saying they are very busy and have no other tables. I say this won't work so they give us a table in the bar or dining room but both on the edge of the kitchen as well and then tell us we have to be out in 90 minutes. So we get the "priveledge" of paying for a $400. meal and have to leave in 90 minutes. 90 minutes later the dining room was still not full, with tables available and of course no one sitting in the kitchen Hostess and her accomplice were rude and simply playing the arrogant snobs young immature people are when they don't have the experience or professionalism or sense of caring for their revenue source - their customers. Table service was good. Food was great, drinks too expensive. Table service was good. Hostess and accomplice very disappointing and should not be working there. We'll never go back - there are many other restaurants in Toronto that are as good or better with better service / welcome and food.
This restaurant is very well known so we thought we'd try it out. We all love steak and it turned out to be a great restaurant. We had excellent quality cuts of meat and the sides were fantastic! It was $98 each for 3 steaks and 2 a la carte sides including taax and tip. Well worth it!
Great steak, but more expensive than foie gras... Food is good - steak are amazing with a very good choice of cut - portion size are amazing - the menu is interesting, but be prepare to unfold a few large bill... This place is not cheap... at the bottom of Bay Street, the golden boys like to be seen and impress the gallery !!! Overall, worth it for a steak dinner with the boys.... P.S. Not a very romantic place.
Most expensive steak I have ever had and not the best. Sides are extra??? what's with that!!. The service was very good, but the lonely overcooked steak on my plate for $60.00 was a bit much.
Fantastic food, great decor, superb service. Every conversation about steaks in Toronto involves comparison to Harbour 60 so it must be the golden standard. Right?
We are not from Toronto and went to this restaurant on a recommendation from a friend. We were in the Basement but it was really nice. Not too busy although we were told it was fully booked. Olive platter was great. Being from Alberta we doubted USDA beef could be better but husband said it was great and hated to admit it was. Lamb chops were the largest I had ever seen and both meats were cooked to perfection. Sides were delicious and plentiful. I would say portions for a restaurant of this calibre were very generous. Have been to restaurants here and all you get is a large plate and small bit of food in middle. Server Ricardo was very helpful. If we get the chance, I am sure we would go back when next in Toronto.
I had the lobster bisque and filet mignon. The filet was perfect -- exactly as I like it. The lobster was less creamy than I expected, and I would probably have preferred something else had I known. The mushrooms were fantastic. The service was fair. We arrived before the other two in our party and the waiter forgot to come back and ask me what I would like to drink after I said I needed a few minutes to look at their drink menu. He was very helpful and attentive otherwise, especially considering we were in a rush due to traffic.
Had to rush dinner this time as we got to restaurant late and were going to see the Police concert, but they accommodated us well. Nice things are that you can order a hlaf salad as an appetizer which many places will not allow. The ambiance here is great, the wine cellar deep, and they have a well stocked bar with different prime brands. I had the grouper and it was very good, but the giant shrimp on top was a little rubbery. No big deal. What ruined this meal for us was their meat policy. My wife ordered the filet mignon, and she likes lots of pink but no blood, so we usually order a medium. Waiter insisted this is medium well at their restaurant. I said 'Are you sure?' and he said yes. Anyhow, when steak arrived, it didnt havent have any pink and little didnt when it left the kitchen. We didnt have time to change it, but little things like this ruin a meal. We will come back, but to get the top marks, a place has to get it all right, and this night they did not. I disagree with the low marks the other reviewers gave, its hard to go that wrong, but it is an expensive dining experience, and for that, you expect perfection, so only a 7 this time.
Heading to a leafs game, and harbour 60 is only 100 yards south of the ACC, so its a great place for a pre game dinner. The patio when open is my favorite. Was really excited to hear that they had brought in Japanese Kobe based on comments from me and others, but after ordering it, I was informed that they had sold out. Note to staff - dont recommend something until you know its still available. Jennifer was our server and also a sommilier. Harbour 60 has a great wine cellar and I have met at least 3 sommiliers there, which is an indication they take wine seriously. We had a fabulous bottle of wine, and service was fantastic. If not for the let down from the almost Kobe, it would have been perfect. The filet mignon was excellent though and cooked to my request. My buddy and I had a great time, and they were consious of the game time, and made sure we finished in time without being rushed. being so close to the ACC, I see Harbour 60 being a regular haunt for the next six months.
I have eaten here before but this time I sat on the patio outside (smoking is allowed for all you puffers). We were a party of 2, and the service was incredible (kudos to Tom). They provide you with bread like most places, but also a plate of cheese and olives and peppers, and they didnt scrimp on the servings. The service was not excessive, and it seemed whenever I wanted him he was there, but he didnt keep asking to help me as some servers do. I ordered Kobe Beef which is raised in Canada, and it was very good but does not compare to Waygu Kobe from japan. If you are used to the high end Kobe beef, I recommend having the Filet or other cut. Place was clean, well run, and I think despite what others have written, that this place is trending upwards and worth a visit. I'll be back again for sure.
I usually take my wife on our anniversary to this restaurant as I love the food and the overall atmosphere. The food I find to normally be top quality though this visit I remember finding my steak not as tender as normal. However, overall it is definetly a great restaurant that I would strongly suggest for business travellers and those looking to make a good impression on their guests.
