Appropriately enough, the idea for Parkbus came to business partners Alex Berlyand and Boris Issaev around a campfire. “It was a campfire idea we had when we were on a hike in Algonquin Park,” Alex, co-founder and operations manager, recalls. “We love the outdoors and we started talking about how it’s ironic that in order for people to enjoy these places, they have to own a vehicle. We believe our cities would be much better places if everyone had a little taste of nature once in a while.”
So Alex and Boris founded Parkbus, an affordable and convenient way for people to get to some of Ontario’s most beautiful outdoor environments, without a car. “We pick up people at a few stops in one of the two cities, Toronto or Ottawa,” Alex explains. “Then we stop at different provincial and national parks. Our most popular destination is Algonquin Park, but we also offer service to places like Bruce Peninsula and the Georgian Bay Islands.”
