In a sawdust-strewn co-op space, Greg Yafalian polishes the top of a live-edge walnut table that’s almost ready for delivery. Greg, a consummate perfectionist, is agonizing over the tiniest imperfections. He’ll tweak, buff, sand and polish until the piece is faultless.
“For me, furniture is functional art,” says Greg, who started his own woodworking company, Yabba Woodworking, in 2013. Whether you’re outfitting your dining room with zebrawood table, or you’ve got a condo-sized bedroom that needs some functional built-ins, Greg will design the perfect fit for your home. Working with both solid wood and veneers, the carpenter can source just about any wood you’re after, be it exotic (rosewood, teak), recycled (barn board) or native (maple, birch, oak).
