Come summer, New Westminster begins to explode once again with outdoor life as the patios open and life on the Fraser River jumps into action. Whether you’re looking to watch people go by on the waterfront or just share some beers and good conversation with friends, these patios can help you do that and more.

The Boathouse Restaurant

1
900 Quayside Dr, New Westminster BC V3M 6G1

Located right at the end of the Waterfront Esplanade, the Boathouse is a Vancouver-based chain where locals can sit back and indulge after a day of exploration. Situated right along the Fraser River, this particular location offers views of the SkyTrain and Pattullo bridges, which are even more stunning when lit up at night. The food here is consistent and delicious with some of the freshest seafood in town on offer throughout the day.

The Royal Crown Castle

101-319 Governors Crt, New Westminster BC V3L 5S5

The former gatehouse at the British Columbia Penitentiary, the Castle is possibly haunted, which will certainly add a unique ambiance to your next night out. A pub and sports bar, the Castle offers simple favourites like burgers, fish and chips and shepherd’s pie. Featuring a sunny patio located just below the building’s watchtowers, the Castle lets you and your friends enjoy a view of the Pattullo and Port Mann bridges.

Wild Rice Restaurant

122-810 Quayside Dr, New Westminster BC V3M 6B9

Located in the River Market, Wild Rice has stunning views of the mighty Fraser River with ample opportunity to watch tug boats and large ships pass by. The patio is casual and has options for full sun or shade below the tall trees. The restaurant uses locally sourced meats and produce, along with Ocean Wise graded seafood. It produces a West Coast take on many traditional Chinese dishes, along with a number of western favourites.

On a cold, snowy Edmonton night, nothing says lovin’ like a cup of hot chocolate. It’s no surprise this drink was originally dubbed the “elixir of the gods.” Regardless of the variety you select, or whether you opt for the simplest hot chocolate on the menu, all I can say is ... don’t forget the marshmallows.
You don’t have to travel to Paris to have a true fine-dining experience; you can enjoy an upscale dinner, complete with a five-course meal and fine wine, right here at home. Victoria is a fine-dining destination with an excellent reputation – where talented chefs enjoy crafting delicious gourmet dishes from fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Paired with a nice cup of coffee or topped with a scoop of ice cream, pie is unbeatable comfort food. And yet it faces stiff competition from cupcakes as the city’s dessert of choice. Well, pie is fighting back with old fashioned deliciousness as well as new and tantalizing flavours.
