This is truly one of the best Mexican restaurants around. The atmosphere is simple and as stated in other reviews, the seating is limited. The service was relatively fast and pleasant.
What we ordered is listed below. Everything was fresh, delicious and the platters were balanced and well presented. It is clear that there is an underlying culinary passion at this restaurant that is rarely found these days. Reasonable prices make this an ideal spot for lunch or dinner.
When in the mood for Mexican food, this restaurant is very likely to satisfy.

I first visited Allen's back in the 80's, not long after it opened, and I was instantly smitten. So much so, in fact that I moved into the neighbourhood! First I was a regular, then a nuisance, and finally a piece of furniture. I finally moved back to Markham in 1998, and cannot justify going anywhere south of Steeles Avenue without stopping into Allen's for lunch. The food is imaginative, superbly prepared, and so delicious, that even when I'm full, I often look at the menu again, just to see what I'll be ordering on my next visit!
And the patio? Don't get me started......

Fabulous food! I have walked by on several occasions and was certainly not disappointed when finally trying their place.
You can tell the food is made from scratch and with skill. The real buffalo mozzarella in the caprese is a nice change and the lamb was cooked perfectly. Ambiance was nice and relaxed, not overly noisy. Waiters are very nice and attentive. Wine list is impressive. Biagio himself was nice enough to introduce himself at our table; A very pleasant surprise. Apparently they have monthly wine tasting events too. We will definitely return.

Signature dish !!! Don't miss it !!! It wasn't on the menu when I first started going there 20 years ago but somehow word got out.......what a bummer ! You will never taste anything like it. Rivals California's Matsushita or Blue Fin which costs $250 pp and reservations 3 months in advance. Best Sushi in Toronto for sure !!!

Seriously, best restaurant i have been to! Donatello on Elm in Toronto - the service was sooo good - made very special by our knowlwedgable server! The food - sublime! I highly recommend it! What a night!!! The lamb was perfect, and the seafood pasta in a pernod cream sauce to die for. Such wondeful hosts! OMG!They even wrote Happy Birthday Michelle in chocolate around my tiramisu. Edulis is amazing. The only thing disappointing for me is when dinner is over. The food is phenomenal, the service is warm and friendly, and the space is comfortable and unpretentious.
They go above and beyond with thoughtful touches to the experience, like remembering it was my husband and my anniversary.
It’s such a special place for my husband and I and is, by far, our favourite restaurant in the city.
