Rachel Lamont has devoted her life to esthetics. She went to school in Ontario and worked in high-end spas in Toronto. She was medically trained and has worked with dermatologists and clinicians to solve serious skin problems for people, eventually, moving to Calgary to manage a medical spa. A health scare changed her life forever when a goiter was discovered on her thyroid. “They called it cancer for a little while,” says Rachel. “It was the scariest thing.” The incident inspired her to stop using toxic products like those available in most spas in favour of a more holistic approach. She opened up her own all-natural spa, The Natural Art Of Skin Care, in a cozy attic located in a business on Kensington.
“In that little attic I got to work beside a naturopath and a holistic nutritionist and learn the internal stuff about skin care,” says Rachel. She used all-natural products and started building a loyal following, soon moving out of that attic into a custom-made space of her own. “I kept expanding and so I built the spa that I wanted. It’s clean and basic esthetics with all the services.”
