The game industry is booming and Chris Webber, owner of Trilogy Games, knows why. He says that people spend a lot of time with headsets on in front of their computers, which can be isolating. “We offer a space where we concentrate on people playing games together and talking,” he explains. And it’s a hit.
Chris purchased the business from a friend in 2011. “I had been a bit of a closet geek since my university days,” he says. Since then, he’s expanded, renovated and turned the shop into one of Calgary’s gaming hotspots. The store sells collectible card games, board games, miniatures and gaming supplies. They also have a massive tournament centre that can seat over 100 players, along with an in-store café for when you work up an appetite playing your favourite games. And of course the LAN café, which features all of PC gaming’s hottest titles. “My business model was to make the gaming experience the best that it could possibly be,” Chris explains.
