"Walking through the doors of FLOWERZ," says Evan Orion, creative director and owner of FLOWERZ, "is a sensation of colours, smells and creative displays. I have yet to meet a person who is indifferent to that." Opened in Kitsilano in 2007, with a second location in the Downtown core added in 2013, FLOWERZ offers a full range of floral services, from a vast selection of cut flowers and plants to creative arrangements that can't be found anywhere else in the Lower Mainland.
Evan began working in the floral industry when he was 12 years old. "I worked in my parents' flower shop in Haifa, Israel," he recalls. "At the age of 18, I was running the business myself. I left Israel to move to Canada when I was 21 years old and started FLOWERZ a few years later."
Evan and his staff pride themselves on being a leading florist in Vancouver, and this pride extends to the displays and design of the shop. Window displays are created to inspire passers-by to enter and enjoy the stunning floral displays throughout the store. As the FLOWERZ website proclaims, "We keep trying to keep it all fresh and beautiful,” Evan explains.
