“This is a community centre more than anything, but I also sell products to cover the overhead,” laughs Matthew Baker. “There is something here for everyone and since customers want to be here all the time, the sales tend to come naturally.”
In addition to The Connection Games & Comics’ vast selection of comic books, board games, miniature strategy games and retro video games, every evening gamers come together to play popular titles such as Warmachine, Magic the Gathering, HeroClix or Pokemon.
“If there’s a big tournament, I can get about 100 people in here,” Matthew says. Since he took ownership in 2014, Matthew also introduced an entertainment system where customers can play videos games, and he serves drinks and snacks to keep their energy levels up.
