When Sacha Thompson opened The Flowerbox back in August of 2004, she wasn't entirely sure whether it was going to take root. But now, more than 10 years later, her store has blossomed into a Commercial Drive staple, offering custom arrangements, wedding consultations, film and corporate contracts, cards, giftware and (of course) flowers of all shapes, sizes and colours.
“It was a very modest beginning,” Sacha explains. “It was just me for about 400 days before I could hire somebody, and I worked every day. It was a tiny, little footprint of a store, but the Drive really needed it, I think. Everyone was like: 'Oh, thank God. A Flower shop!' And now it's being really well supported by the neighbourhood.”
