Did the servers skirts get shorter? I found it very distasteful that the servers we're wearing tiny little plaid skirts. What happened to the knee length kilt style skirts they use to wear. Other than that the food is good. The service is alright.
Very disappointing. Was charged a cover charge at 9pm for a band that did not come on till 10pm, just because we wanted to enjoy our meal on the patio. Band was ok but not worth the charge. Food was over priced and terrible. Now I understand why not so busy. Will not return.
We have been visiting Paddy's for several years. But recently our last 3-4 visits have been very disappointing. The service has been slow, unfriendly, and made us feel like an inconvenience. The food has certainly gone down hill. If your going to put a soup on "special", maybe it should taste special too - not just from a box or can. As well, it should arrive before your main and not after - even when you have to ask for it. The steak was chewy and the fries greasy and over cooked. We have spent may hours and money at Paddy's in the past but will not be in the future.
I was here with a friend for a Monday lunch. Apparently Monday is the slowest day of the week , the place wasn’t busy, and the lunch traffic was handled by one friendly young waitress. In some places when business is slow and the staff don’t have much to do, service can be bad. Why exert yourself for just a couple of people in the corner ? However that wasn’t the case at Paddy’s as our girl was keeping herself quite busy, giving extra attention to the few early lunch hour customers who were already there. As the lunch hour rolled on more people showed up, and eventually they had a respectably sized crowd for lunch. I had one of the specials of the day -the mushroom soup ($4.99) and it was followed by the chicken tikka masala curry ($12.99). I was hungry and I tucked into the soup as soon as it arrived and I didn’t pause very often until it was gone. It was pretty good and if I was home and had a spatula, I would have scraped the soup bowl clean and licked the spatula ! I was still hungry after the soup. The curry that followed was okay. The large plate was divided into equal parts of green peas, plain basmati rice, and the chicken curry. My first impression was that I would have liked fewer peas and more curry! However the portions were just enough to satisfy my hunger – not too little, not too much – just right! My friend had the seafood pie with a side of chowder ($15.98). I didn’t ask him how it was and he didn’t volunteer, so I guess his meal was at least acceptable and probably better than just that. I found my curry a little bland. I think they described it as “medium” on the menu but I thought it was weaker than that. I suppose I could have asked for a bottle of Tabasco sauce to heat it up. They must have to cater to diners who think they are adventurous with hot food but who really aren’t ? The service was very good, the food was at least okay maybe “good”, but the price ? Well, I thought the price was at the top end of the lunch range. I paid $51 with tip for the two of us and we only had soft drinks ($2.79) with our meals. I think we could have received the same value at other places for about $15 less. I usually end up at Paddy’s about once a year. The prices are probably why I don’t go there more often. I’ve got a feeling it would be a very appropriate place to spend an evening with friends for some pub food, a few drinks, and a great atmosphere, but as a lunch spot…well, there’s better value elsewhere in “River City”.
The food was quick to come. The poutine was tasty, however the cheese was not melted. My main course (the salmon) was a touch dry, and I did not particularly like the portobello mushroom topping. It was vinegary. The rice that it was served with was flavorless and dry. I did enjoy the fish itself though, but maybe because I am a salmon fanatic,. My boyfriend ordered the wings and they came with hot sauce instead of medium sauce. He enjoyed them anyways, but they were spicier than he had hoped. The Caesar was made extremely well, and was extra spicy just as he had ordered. The waitress did not pay attention to us, and there were times in which he had empty drinks in our hands and were wanting another but she was no where to be found. In addition to this, she forgot our order and came back to ask us what we had again, and still somehow managed to screw up the wing order. The patio was nice to sit on, on a breezy spring day. As I began writing this review I thought that I would recommend this place to someone, but now after writing down my thoughts on it, I don't think I would. The overall experience was not great, it was mediocre. Our bill was around $50 from what I remember. If you have good company I suppose the meal doesn't matter too much. This seems to be a popular place in town, and I think their appetizers are generally simple and tasty. I am undecided on my view of this place.
One of the BEST restaurants in town. The food tastes like everything is made from scratch, it's fresh and flavourful. I love food, and I'll be in love with Paddy Flahery's food forever!!!!
At paddy's always good food, always glad to be back. Lots of choices of beer. The best sitting area outside. Everything you would expect of a Irish pub. A must go for everybody who did not go yet. Usually good service sometimes it seems they don t have enough waiters around to attend everybody. overall 4/5
One of my favorite places, even if the food can seem pricey. Always lots of interesting drink specials. Sometimes they have live bands. Try the prime rib burger - it's incredible.
Best veggie burger in Sarnia. Nice atmosphere, a little challenging to find if you're from out of town. I'll be back. Wait staff was great.
Yum !! My most favorite restaurant in Sarnia. Awesome wait staff, Great food. We had the lamb shank, de-lish, Shrimp linguini, the best burger this side of the Bluewater Bridge and the chicken pot pie. We will return. Twyla
I've eatten there at least a dozen times, for both business and pleasure. For Sarnia, it is by far the best restuarant.
My only wish is that they would bring back the opened faced salmon sandwich! This place is awesome but, stop changing the menu!
We moved to sarnia a couple months ago and Paddy's has quickly become a regular place for us. The food is awesome, I haven't had anything I didn't like. Best fish and chips I have ever had, try all the irish dishes, they are so good. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, reasonably priced, lots of different beer. I will go back and back.
Food was bland and overpriced. Service was TERRIBLE. The waitress actually seemed put out by any requests we had.
Yes! It's was St Patrick's Day! Very pack place with very pleasant Irish Music. Service was very refreshing and helpful. This have been my third time coming to this place on St Patrick's Day but the first time during lunchtime. I will make a tradition in going there every time. sigh Mich
1st visit & will definitely go again soon. Blarney chips are my new favorite "nachos"!!! The steak & mushroom crock was hearty & very delicious. One friend enjoyed the lamb shank very much but the surf & turf was light on the "surf"(hence the 9,on her behalf)Dessert was amazing! Loved the music & atmosphere.
The atmosphere was a little loud but typical of an Irish pub. The food was first class all the way. We have been back several times and the food is consistently excellent but service does vary. You must try!
My wife and I have been to Flaherty's a number of times for lunch when passing through Sarnia and have never been disappointed. The restaurant's special braised lamb shank is excellent, especially when accompanied by a Harp lager.
The food quality is excellent, service was great, and have gone back three times since. Definately one of the better independent establishments in the Sarnia area.
The Belfast Burger was so burnt that I cracked a tooth on it and felt very sick after eating it. THe chicken pot pie was sunk in the middle and served with leaves for a salad. The fish was good but the side order of chips could have been larger. The waitress just smiled at us when we asked her for mustard and relish. Had to go and get out own mustard. Had to wait forever for the bill to come. NOt impressed
