Girl Friday owner Rebecca Nixon knows her old idioms. A ‘girl Friday’ was a 1940s sort of right-hand-woman, the kind of person who would look after your dry cleaning, order the flowers, type your letters – you name it, she’d look after it. It’s in that spirit that Rebecca opened her Queen Street West women’s clothing store.
Rebecca wanted her shop to be a modern-day girl Friday. “You can pick up a gift for a friend, get a skirt for work or something to wear on the weekends,” says Rebecca. “I wanted it to be a store that people could really rely on to find something great.”
Since most of us can’t afford an actual girl Friday to keep us organized, it’s nice to know there’s a shop where you can do it all: pick up a gift (a beautiful set of earrings perhaps?), scope out a new winter coat, buy your bridesmaid dress and, oh, throw in a couple of pairs of tights because, well, you always need those. Girl Friday is that kind of place.
