I gave it 4* for the authenticity of the food, it's one of the few Japanese-owned, Japanese eateries in the GTA. Price is definately very reasonable and service is both efficent and courteous. Would go out of the way to go back here, instead of the other dozens of Japanese sushi restos in the GTA.
INITIAL: As a person that doesn't come from downtown Toronto, I would have never heard or seen this restaurant if it wasn't suggested by a local. This place isn't easy to find, but any sensible individual aided with Googlemaps and has a basic sense of directions would be able to find this place no problem. ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant is small, but that gives you the warm feeling and authentic Japanese feel. It is nicely lit, and the overall place seems very clean and tidy. An overall good impression upon entering the restaurant. FOOD: Given that the location is not in the heart of the Entertainment District, the price for the food is really good and cheap comparative to other downtown Toronto restaurants. If you are a donburi or udon lover, this place would be the perfect fit for you. The main dishes are all less than 9-10 dollars, and if you are a hearty eater, you can combo it up for an additional 2 dollars (which includes 2 side dishes of your choice). Personally, I would combo it up and choose the Takosen as one of the side dishes; very authentic and good. Overall the food was well made. The dishes were flavourful but not too intense. SERVICE: Overall service was great. The food was made in sufficient time, and the waitresses always made sure your tea cup wasn't empty; which is a big plus for Manpuku. OVERALL: This place is definitely worth coming to again. I would like to try udon next time I go, which is highly recommended by my friend.
Perfect place for a light meal before going to a movie. We visit about twice per month and always enjoy the food, atmosphere and servers' courtesy. Authentic Japanese fare at a very thrifty price. (As noted - Japanese curry is something we never eat anywhere. Also don't want Indian sushi.) We recommend Manpuku to all our friends and family. Lovely staff and food always!
I was curious about the review so i step in and have Shigure Don. The portions are slightly small but for the price is alright~ As for the food is a bit better then other Japanese restaurant. Go Check it out or Mayb i am picky~
i've been to this place quite a few times already... and MAN i still can't get enough with their curry cuz it taste soooo special @___@ awesome services with respect and manner wow
