The Dock Ellis first opened its doors in November of 2013. With hipster bars galore along Dundas West, the stacked west end bar scene was still missing something. Enter The Dock Ellis, a sports themed bar that isn’t just for jocks. The stylish and relaxed watering hole has an approachable vibe that can make anyone feel at home. Sports fans, financiers and local artists all come together to sip Ontario craft beer while catching a game. And if watching sports isn't your thing, you can toss some darts or play foosball with impunity.
The neighbourhood bar got its namesake from the infamous baseball player who threw a no-hitter in June of 1970 while high on LSD. Owners Callum Woods, Andrew Kaiser (owner of the Emmet Ray) and Alain Pitout came together wanting to create a space that was sports-centric, but had something for everyone. They found that Toronto had tonnes of sports bars and even more hip bars, but never the twain did meet. So the three budding business owners joined forces to do something about it.
