Granny Bonn's Fish N Chips

I love to travel and i love fish and chips. My favourite and most delicious fish and chips memory is Bass Fish & Chips in South London, UK. Ever since tasting that mouthwatering original English style fish and chips, i have been searching the world for something similar. After trying several restaurants here in Ontario, i rate Granny Bonns a 7/10 for the tastiest and best priced fish and chips within a 100 km radius :0).

Meh.

There was nothing horribly wrong with our meal. The service was not what we were expecting, we were looking for a sit down restaurant and this was more of a fast food restaurant style. The food itself was plentiful but the halibut was very un-flavorful and lack luster. The fries were alright but I will be looking for a different fish n' chips place for my next night out.

LATE NIGHT STOP

I was impressed, I came in late, food was great, service was better. All they need is a bit of spit and polish, could be a great place if they tried. ps: coleslaw ruled, I'd drive to KW for this.

substandard with new owners

Now that this restaurant has changed hands, I will not go back. The fish was half decent, but the coleslaw looks like it was put into a puree machine, and the fries were not cooked and tasted frozen. Oh - did I mention that people were waiting over 1/2 hour for their orders. Get it together!

great haddock

Had not been to Granny Bonn's in quite a while. The decor is still a little rundown, but tables have upgraded to a tablecloth and glass, and are clean! The haddock is delicious with a light coating, Fry size is small, but quite adequate. The coleslaw is to die for. Will definitely conisder a return visit.

Great quality fish and excellent service!

The quality of the halibut was excellent! Our group of 4 only ordered halibut so I can't comment on the other fish but I highly recommend it. My only complaint was the fries were a little dry but I don't eat a lot of fries anyway. The decor is a little dated too but I think that adds to the charm of a Fish n' Chip place. The service was very fast and friendly!

Good Fish and Chips

We ordered take-out dinner for 4 (Halibut) and chips. There wasn't a large amount of fries but there were 8 very large and delicious pieces of fish. It was worth the extra cost for the halibut. We will definitely be back!

Picked up take-out twice recently, haddock and chips both times. Myself and my family were all happy with the food, and surprised at how crispy the fish was considering it was a take out order, so it sat in the box for at least 15 minutes before we ate it! Not the cheapest fish & chips in town, but no complaints really, haddock is always an extra charge no matter where you order from. One thing I would suggest, they are skimpy with the condiments they include for take out, so if you are a big fan of tartar sauce or malt vinegar, make sure you ask for lots or you will not have enough. Counter service was pleasant, but the place looks extremely run down so I am not sure I woud actually want to dine in...do recommend it for take out though!

The fish is way too greasy with poor quality fish - if this is the best fish & chips KW has to offer, we're in big trouble.
