The Dance Scene started as a spin-off to The Music Scene, a Whitby-based music school, when manager Jasmyn Kersey saw the potential to expand. Drawing on her own experience with dance, she came to her business partner, Milton Gavilanez, with the idea for a dance studio. Naturally, he thought it was a great idea. “I started teaching vocals at the school and then began discussing with Milton about ways to elevate our offerings to new heights,” Jasmyn recalls. “So, we started out with recreational dance and gradually took a more competitive and professional approach to the discipline.”
As they expanded, The Dance Scene looked to other dancing opportunities, eventually building state of the art facilities that helped them teach all their programs. Their dance program is well-rounded and has something for everyone to enjoy. “We’re focused on being a respectable institution, well-versed in many dance disciplines and styles,” Milton says. Today The Dance Scene is a complete school with four dance studios built with the industry's highest standards in mind.
